Overcome normal optical limitations in microscopic studies by highlighting specific structures with stains and reagents and then protect samples with fixatives. The fast-acting dyes create strong contrasts between cell components for easier detection or analyses. Sensitive attractions to certain organelle or cellular components differ among offered stains, allowing precise testing modifications. Flexible in use, ready-to-use stains may be handled manually or in conjunction with automatic equipment.

Pierce™ Silver Stain Kit, Thermo Scientific
Supplier: Invitrogen
The Pierce Silver Stain Kit is a rapid, ultra-sensitive, and versatile silver stain system for protein detection in polyacrylamide gels, yielding consistent and reliable results. It is a metallic silver (Ag) protein stain that yields a remarkably clear and uniform gel background. In standard mini gels, proteins are detectable at greater than 0.25 ng per band or spot. The protocol has been optimized for flexibility by allowing short or overnight gel fixation and staining steps without affecting staining performance (sensitivity or clarity). A short (one-minute) sensitization step, performed after gel fixation, yields results that are free of the characteristically dark or blotchy backgrounds often seen with homemade or other commercially available silver stains. This feature is beneficial when performing densitometric analysis of silver stained gels.

VWR® Agarose Gel Loading Dye, Ultra Pure Grade
Supplier: VWR
VWR® electrophoresis gel loading dyes are tested for contaminating DNase, RNase, and protease activity and are sterile filtered for long shelf life and stability. In addition, all dyes are function tested and do not interfere with sample migration. Their ready-to-use format eliminates exposure to potentially irritating and harmful powdered dyes. Agarose Gel Loading Dye is designed to optimize loading nucleic acids in acrylamide and agarose gels by imparting color to the sample to ensure efficient sample distribution into each well. Its blend of three tracking dyes make estimating sample migration simple and reliable.

Pierce™ Silver Stain for Mass Spectrometry, Thermo Scientific
Supplier: Invitrogen
Pierce Silver Stain for Mass Spectrometry is a complete kit for rapid and ultra-sensitive silver staining of proteins in polyacrylamide gels and efficient destaining of excised gel pieces for mass spectrometry analysis. This kit enables both first-time and experienced users to achieve consistent and reliable staining using high-, low-, and gradient-percentage gels in 1D and 2D formats. The optimized staining method ensures extremely sensitive staining while minimizing covalent crosslinking of protein to the gel matrix, which can inhibit protein recovery. The destaining reagents facilitate complete removal of silver from stained protein bands and maximum protein recovery for subsequent mass spectrometry analysis.
