The receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) is a multi-ligand member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell surface molecules. It interacts with distinct molecules implicated in homeostasis, development and inflammation, and certain diseases such as diabetes and Alzheimer's disease. RAGE is also a central cell surface receptor for amphoterin and EN-RAGE. RAGE is associated with sustained NF-kappaB activation in the diabetic microenvironment and has a central role in sensory neuronal dysfunction. Moreover, RAGE propagates cellular dysfunction in several inflammatory disorders and diabetes, and it also functions as an endothelial adhesion receptor promoting leukocyte recruitment. Accurate chromosome segregation during mitosis requires a kinetochore to assemble correctly at the centromere of each chromatid and form a dynamic interface with the microtubules of the mitotic spindle. The kinetochore assembly includes the multisubunit CENP-H/I complex which can be divided into three functional classes based on phenotype analysis. One of these classes is referred to as the CENP-O class of proteins of which CENPO is the exemplar. These proteins form a stable complex with each other and are required for proper kinetochore function and for recovery from mitotic spindle damage. CENPO has also been shown to be an auto-antigen in a small population of anti-centromere antibodies- (ACA-) positive patients with sclerodoma.

The development of ‘type’ specific antibodies is dependent on NON-DENATURED three-dimensional epitopes. This preparation results in a native conformation of the protein. Antibodies are isolated from rabbit antiserum and are extensively cross-adsorbed by immunoaffinity purification to produce 'type' specific antibodies. Greatly diminished reactivity and selectivity of these antibodies will result if denaturing and reducing conditions are used for SDS-PAGE and immunoblotting.

The estrogen receptor-related factor (ERRF) is a recently identified protein whose expression is upregulated in multiple cell lines and primary breast cancer tumors. Increased ERRF expression was significantly associated with ER or progesterone receptor (PR) positivity even in HER2-negative tumors. This higher ERRF expression correlated with better disease-free survival and overall survival. In two ER-positive breast cancer cell lines, knockdown of ERRF suppressed cell growth in vitro and tumorigenesis in xenograft models, suggesting that ERRF plays a role in estrogen-ER-mediated breast cancer cell growth and may thus be a potential therapeutic target.
